Amanda Smith, MS

I am a soil scientist and an environmentalist.  I enjoy constant learning about nature by reading books on soil life, trees, how nature works, climate processes and then applying this knowledge in my home farm and garden.  I am also a big proponent of permaculture practices and have taken three Permaculture Design Courses.  I incorporate the tenets of permaculture, Earth Care, People Care and Giving Back Extra Resources at Abalone Coast Analytical, Inc.  This is most notably done in my leadership style where group responsibility is encouraged in order to create a safe environment that allows all the Abalone Coasters to feel like they are empowered to speak their minds and share their ideas.

I strongly desire to offer solutions to environmental issues, so I have created Soil Harmonics.  This is my consulting/educational business where I teach how to create healthy soil with healthy ecosystems.

My outside interests include hiking, beach walks, laughing with friends and sipping a glass of delicious, local (but sometimes Italian!) red wine on my front porch.  I’m likely reading a book about nature while doing this!
